LIFT STATION REFURBISHMENT TO BEGIN THE WEEK OF MAY 4, 2026 AND CONTINUE THROUGH JULY
Seacoast Utility Authority (SUA) has contracted with Globaltech to refurbish two lift stations in the Town of Lake Park. Work will include replacement of lift station piping, pumps, and other components, as well as replacement of the fencing around the lift stations.
Work at the lift station located on the north side of Kelsey Park along Greenbriar Drive will begin the week of May 4, and work on the lift station at the intersection of 6th Street and Evergreen Drive will begin later in the month. Work at both project sites is expected to be completed by the end of July.
No road closures are anticipated in relation to this project, however there will be sidewalk closings and rerouting of pedestrian traffic (primarily at the Kelsey Park location). Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise additional caution when in the vicinity of either site.

PALM BEACH COUNTY UNITED WAY FOOD FINDER MAP HELPS CONNECT INDIVIDUALS SEEKING FOOD RESOURCES TO SITES NEAR THEM
A significant part of the mission of the United Way of Palm Beach County is to ensure that everyone in Palm Beach County has enough to eat. To help individuals and families in Palm Beach County locate the food they need to help them stay healthy, United Way created a user-friendly Food Finder Map that includes color-coded indicators for facilities such as food pantries, soup kitchens, senior meals, 18 and under meals, and more. Also, please remember that the Town of Lake Park offers free weekend meals for kids and teens under the age of 18 at the Lake Park Public Library. These take-home bags are delivered to the library every Thursday, and a parent or guardian must be present. BACK 2 SCHOOL EXTRAVAGANZA RECAP
The Town of Lake Park’s annual Back 2 School Extravaganza took place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, and it was another wonderful success! Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and volunteers, we distributed over 700 backpacks filled with school supplies to help students prepare for the new school year.
More than 15 vendors were on-site sharing helpful resources with families, and guests enjoyed free hot dogs, chips, and drinks. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible — your support ensures our students and families start the school year strong.
LAKE PARK PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES AWARD FROM BRIDGES AT LAKE PARK
The Lake Park Public Library received the “Phenomenal North Star” Award from BRIDGES at Lake Park during its first annual “Celebrating Our North Stars” awards banquet on Thursday, July 24. The award, which was accepted by Lake Park Public Library Director Judith Cooper, was presented in recognition of the library’s ongoing support of BRIDGES and its mission to connect local families to community resources so more children are born healthy, remain free from abuse and neglect, are ready for kindergarten and have increased access to quality afterschool and summer programs.
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF KELSEY PARK EAST TENNIS COURT
In order to ensure the safety of our community members, the Town of Lake Park has made the decision to close one of our tennis courts temporarily, effective Wednesday, April 30, 2025, due to ground anomalies that pose a potential safety hazard. The court will remain closed until a full assessment is completed and necessary repairs are made.

PALM BEACH COUNTY LAUNCHES ASSISTANCE PORTAL FOR UNSHELTERED RESIDENTS
The Palm Beach County Community Services Department has announced the launch of a referral portal to facilitate the assistance of unsheltered families and individuals residing in the county. This user-friendly portal is accessible to individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness, concerned community members seeking to assist those in need, and local law enforcement officers identifying individuals in crisis.
Upon submission of a referral, the request will be directed to the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) at the Community Services Department. The team will then begin to work connecting individuals to appropriate resources, shelter and supportive services.
The Assistance Portal can be found online at www.pbcgov.com/communityservices or at any of the eight self-service kiosk locations throughout the county. Each kiosk is equipped with a touch screen, menu of available services and programs and a built-in scanner/printer. The locations are:

START THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR STRONG
The start of the 2026–2027 school year is right around the corner! Whether your child is entering a new grade or starting at a new school, preparing early can help make the transition smoother and less stressful for the entire family.
Organize and Plan Ahead
Begin by creating a back-to-school checklist. Review your child’s school supply list, which may be available through the School District of Palm Beach County, your child’s school or their teacher. Take inventory of backpacks, lunchboxes, uniforms, clothing and supplies to determine what can be reused and what needs to be replaced.
Families can also get a head start at the Town of Lake Park’s Back 2 School Extravaganza on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lake Park Town Hall. The event will offer free backpacks, school supplies and community resources for students in grades K–12, along with music, food, games, face painting and more. A parent or guardian and the student must be present. Supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Families can also save on additional school-year essentials during Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, taking place through Thursday, August 20, 2026. Qualifying purchases include clothing, footwear and backpacks priced at $100 or less per item; certain school supplies priced at $50 or less per item; learning aids and puzzles priced at $30 or less; and personal computers and qualifying accessories priced at $1,500 or less for noncommercial home or personal use.
It is also helpful to create a weekly family schedule that includes school hours, homework time, extracurricular activities, transportation plans and family commitments. Having a clear routine in place before the first day can help children know what to expect.
Establish a Healthy Routine
At least one week before school begins, start gradually adjusting your child’s bedtime and wake-up time. Moving the schedule earlier a little at a time can make the first week of school easier.
Begin reducing evening screen time as well, especially before bed. Phones, tablets, televisions and video games can make it harder for children to settle down and get enough rest. Consider creating a regular time when devices are turned off and kept outside the bedroom.
A good night’s sleep, a nutritious breakfast and an energizing lunch are important for a child’s health and academic performance. Plan balanced meals and snacks that will help students stay focused throughout the day. A well-rested and nourished child is better prepared to participate, concentrate and learn.
Prepare Emotionally
Starting a new school year can bring excitement, nervousness, uncertainty or even sadness. Talk with your child about how they are feeling and give them an opportunity to ask questions or share concerns.
Remind your child of challenges they have handled successfully in the past and reassure them that they are capable of adjusting to the new school year. Small gestures, such as placing an encouraging note in their lunchbox or sending a familiar keepsake with them, can provide extra comfort.
Remember to celebrate small accomplishments during the first few weeks, whether it is getting ready on time, completing homework, meeting a new friend or adjusting to a new classroom.
