Prior to her election as Mayor in 2008, Mayor DuBois had been involved in Town activities for over a decade. She served on the Code Compliance Board for eight years and chaired it for six of those years. She was instrumental in establishing the local Historical Society, and volunteered her time as President for several years.
Mayor DuBois grew up in Barnwell, SC, and attended the University of South Carolina. She also studied at the Columbia Museum School. She was a professor at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and later owned and operated an art gallery that displayed her own work along with the work of other artists. Mayor DuBois has presented a dozen solo art exhibits and participated in 24 group shows. She is proud to have individual mural and major mural projects in her curriculum vitae. She also worked with the Educational TV Network in SC, and appeared on CBS Network Morning News.
