The Lake Park Parks and Recreation Department, located at 311 7th Street, coordinates special events and recreational opportunities throughout the year for residents and visitors of all ages, and also administers the rental of community facilities and park amenities for family gatherings or special events.
The Department coordinates community events, runs a comprehensive Summer Camp Program and After-School Program for young people ages 5-12, and organizes many year-round activities in the recently renovated Mirror Ballroom. The schedule includes a wide variety of classes that range from Hip-Hop and Ballroom dancing to Mommy & Me and 50+ fitness programs. The Parks and Recreation Department also oversees sporting activities that include the martial arts, football, soccer, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis.
Through county, state, and local funding and corporate sponsorships, the Department has added playgrounds to area parks, improved ball fields, beautified Kelsey Park and Lake Shore Park, refurbished the Lake Park Tennis facility, made Town parks and playgrounds accessible to the disabled, renovated the Mirror Ballroom, and hosted community celebrations like the annual fireworks festival.
