Mayor James DuBois

Mayor James DuBois

James DuBois is the Special Projects Manager for Callery-Judge Grove in Loxahatchee, Florida and he is a District Supervisor for Seminole Improvement District.

Callery-Judge Grove is a 3,700-acre orange, tangerine and grapefruit grove that is transitioning some of its citrus land to peaches, pines, landscape nursery, cattle, and row crops.  The Grove, surrounded on 90% of its boundaries by residential neighborhoods, is located in suburban Palm Beach County about four miles north of Wellington.  Located within the Grove are three schools, one grocery anchored shopping center and an agricultural/packing processing facility.

James has been associated with Callery-Judge Grove for thirty five years.  Over the past eighteen of those years James has held positions in packinghouse production and supervision, crop management and agricultural sales.  Most recently, James has been assisting with steering the Grove’s future and agricultural land planning.

Seminole Improvement District is an independent Chapter 298 Special District that provides potable water, sewer, and reclaimed water service to the central western communities and a variety of other surface water management and district services to lands within the District.  James has been a Supervisor on Seminole Improvement District’s Board for ten years and has represented Seminole on the Western Communities Council for many years.

James attended the University of Connecticut and concentrated in American History.

James serves or has served on the following boards: Town of Lake Park Police Pension Fund Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Marina Advisory Board for the Town of Lake Park, Vice Chairman of Planning and Zoning for the Town of Lake Park, Supervisor for Seminole Improvement District, Board of Directors- Palms West Chamber of Commerce, Palms West Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs, Economic Development and Nominating Committees, and Economic Development Task Force.

While on the Palms West Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Task Force, James served as Task Force Liaison to the Western Communities Council which has undertaken the Task Force Technical Advisory Group’s goal of identifying and mapping in Arcview GIS the Shovel Ready properties of three municipalities; Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and Greenacres.  The Palm Beach County Business Development Board has recently expanded its application of the Shovel Ready Palm Beach program to include a wider range of properties.  This expansion is closely aligned with the purpose and intent of the Task Force’s GIS mapping goal.  As a member of the Government Affairs Committee, James drafted many of Palms West Chamber’s resolutions of support for central western communities’ economic development ranging from roadway improvement projects to land use approval applications.

While serving on the Town of Lake Park Planning and Zoning Board, James reviewed and considered applications for development and redevelopment of over one million square feet of residential and non-residential development.  He participated in reviewing most of the existing development of the Lake Park Congress Avenue annexation corridor.

James’ wife, the late Mayor Desca DuBois, served the Town of Lake Park for many years as a volunteer and in March 2008 she was elected Mayor of the Town of Lake Park.  In March 2011 Mrs. DuBois was reappointed Mayor after an unopposed election campaign. Mayor Desca DuBois passed away on April 30th, 2011.

As Mayor of the Town of Lake Park, James recognizes the Town’s potential is limitless and that many of the town’s neighboring communities recognize and appreciate Lake Park for its high quality of life. Mayor DuBois is proud to be a part of the Lake Park community and he looks forward to participating in the shaping of Lake Park’s future.
